Ancient Muslims had many lasting achievements that we still use today. For instance, they were able to discover that the blood circulates to and from the heart. This knowledge helps us today because we can understand the human body better and we use it in our day to day lives. Also, they have contributed to our sciences greatly, they were able to label objects as animal, mineral, and vegetable. Another contribution that we still use today is the fact that Earth is round. This has helped us in the modern world because it has helped us understand why we have days and nights (rotation), and has helped us draw the world on a map much more precisely. Also, they came up with a number system. This obviously, we use everyday in our lives and without numbers, it would be impossible to do math. The Muslims also had very advanced writing and literature. They were able to write a whole book, the Quran, their holy book, and they wrote the story Aladdin. They also studied the skies and were able to prove that the moon affects the tides. This helps us today because it has helped us understand why the ocean rises and falls. Also, knowing that the moon affects the tides, we are able to predict when and how high or low the tides will be at a certain time. The Muslims also made clinics and were able to tell the difference between small pox and the measles. This helps us because it has helped us cure more people and understand why, or what, diseases people have.
